Growing Together, Not Apart · Day 21 of 21
Praying for the People We Are Becoming

Scripture reading
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.”
Philippians 1:9-10, KJV
Teaching lesson
They reached the final devotion and looked back over the past three weeks.
There had been a conversation they would once have avoided, a small adjustment that made life easier, and an evening when they had enjoyed learning something together.
There were also places where change was still difficult.
They had more to practise, but they understood each other a little better than when they began.
Paul's prayer for the Philippians is that their love would continue to abound in knowledge and discernment. He wants their growing love to be accompanied by wisdom about what is excellent and pleasing to God.
That is a meaningful prayer to carry into the future of a marriage.
We need love that keeps learning. Love that pays attention to the person beside us, considers the effect of our choices, and becomes wiser in the way it responds.
During these twenty-one days, you have been invited to remain curious, take responsibility for your own growth, and make room for change. You have considered how to listen more deeply, enjoy shared experiences, and show grace while learning continues.
Pause to notice what you want to carry forward.
Choose one practice you can sustain. It might be a regular conversation about what is shaping you, a small shared experience, or a commitment to acknowledge and repair a hurtful response.
Keep it realistic enough to become part of ordinary life.
Then pray for your spouse with tenderness. Bring their present needs and growing strengths before God. Ask Him to guide their character and deepen their faith, without turning prayer into a list of changes you want to impose.
Offer your own heart with the same willingness.
You do not yet know every season ahead or every change it will bring. You can continue seeking God and learning how to meet one another with truth and care.
Thank Him for the growth already taking place. Entrust the unfinished work to Him, and take the next faithful step together.
Put it into practice
Together
Your challenge
Each name one lesson from this series you want to keep practising. Agree on one shared practice for the next month and a time to review it, then pray a blessing over one another.
On your own
To reflect on
- What is God asking me to keep practising so that the love I offer my spouse becomes more thoughtful, mature, and faithful?
Prayer focus
“Father, thank You for walking with us through these twenty-one days. Let our love grow in understanding and wisdom. Shape our hearts, strengthen what is good, and help us repair what still needs attention. Bless the people we are becoming, and teach us to keep growing together in Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
