Praying for Protection Over Our Marriage
Praying with Love
Day 15 of 21 · Saturday 6 June 2026
Scripture reading
“I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
Psalms 91:2, KJV
Teaching lesson
They loved each other.
But love still needed covering.
Because marriage does not only face what happens inside the home.
It faces pressures from outside too.
Work stress.
Family opinions.
Financial strain.
Temptation.
Unresolved hurt.
Busyness.
Pride.
Wrong counsel.
Spiritual tiredness.
Emotional distance.
Sometimes couples do not notice how vulnerable their marriage has become until distance has already started to grow.
The conversations become shorter.
The prayers become fewer.
The affection becomes less natural.
The home becomes tense.
And slowly, things that should have been guarded are left exposed.
Marriage needs protection.
Not only from obvious dangers.
But from small things that quietly weaken love.
A careless conversation.
A hidden habit.
A divided schedule.
A friendship without boundaries.
A wound that is left unattended.
A heart that stops praying.
Prayer places the marriage back under God’s covering.
It says,“Lord, protect what You joined together.”
“Guard our hearts.”
“Guard our words.”
“Guard our choices.”
“Guard our home.”
“Guard our love.”
Protection is not fear.
It is wisdom.
It is choosing to be alert.
Choosing to be honest.
Choosing to set boundaries.
Choosing to pray before the enemy finds an opening.
A marriage becomes stronger when both husband and wife understand that love must be nurtured and protected.
Not once.
But daily.
Because what God has joined together should not be left uncovered.
Together
Your challenge
Pray together today and ask God to protect your marriage, your home, your hearts, and your decisions.
On your own
To reflect on
- Are there areas in our marriage that I have left unguarded?
Prayer focus
“Lord, place Your protection over our marriage. Guard our hearts, our home, our words, our choices, and our love. Keep us from anything that would create distance between us and help us to remain covered by You. Amen.”
