Praying with Love

Scripture reading
“It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV
Teaching lesson
Lamentations 3:22-23
They made vows.
They meant them.
They stood before God and promised love.
For better.
For worse.
In joy.
In difficulty.
In plenty.
In lack.
In health.
In sickness.
But faithfulness is not only promised on the wedding day.
It is chosen in the ordinary days.
The tired days.
The disappointing days.
The days when feelings are quiet.
The days when temptation whispers.
The days when someone else seems easier to talk to.
The days when marriage feels more like responsibility than romance.
Faithfulness is not only about avoiding betrayal.
It is about guarding the heart.
Guarding the mind.
Guarding the words.
Guarding the choices.
Guarding the small places where distance can grow.
Sometimes unfaithfulness begins long before an action.
It begins when the heart stops being careful.
When private thoughts go unchecked.
When attention is given where it should not be given.
When comparison enters.
When secrecy begins.
When emotional needs are carried outside the marriage instead of brought before God and handled with honesty.
Marriage needs daily faithfulness.
Not out of fear.
But out of love.
Out of covenant.
Out of reverence for God.
Out of honour for the person He has placed beside us.
Faithfulness says,“I will keep choosing us.”
“I will protect what God has joined.”
“I will not feed what could destroy trust.”
“I will bring my heart back home.”
God’s faithfulness toward us is new every morning.
And by His grace, we can learn to show faithfulness in our marriage again and again.
Not perfectly.
But sincerely.
Prayer helps us remain watchful.
It helps us confess quickly.
Return humbly.
Love intentionally.
And protect the covenant with care.
Because a strong marriage is not built by one big promise alone.
It is built by many small faithful choices.
Day after day.
Together
Your challenge
Tell your spouse one way you are choosing to protect and honour your marriage in this season.
On your own
To reflect on
- Are there any thoughts, habits, conversations, or distractions that could weaken my faithfulness?
Prayer focus
“Lord, help us to choose faithfulness again and again. Guard our hearts, our minds, our words, and our choices. Keep us honest, humble, loyal, and committed to the covenant we made before You. Amen.”
