The Myths We Believe About Marriage
Loving Your Spouse When You Feel Like Walking Away
Day 3 of 21 · Monday 13 April 2026
Scripture reading
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:2, KJV
Teaching lesson
Many struggles in marriage are not caused by reality, but by beliefs.
There are common myths that quietly shape how couples think:
“We already know everything about each other”
“Love should be enough”
“If I have to ask, it doesn’t count”
Consider this real-life example:
A wife expects her husband to help without asking. He assumes she will tell him if she needs help.
Both feel disappointed.Neither communicates.
The issue is not love; it is expectation.
Healthy marriages require:
Flexibility
Curiosity
Willingness to learn
Your spouse is still growing. So are you.
Together
Your challenge
Discuss one expectation you have never clearly communicated.
On your own
To reflect on
- What assumptions am I making about my spouse?
- Am I open to learning new things about them?
Prayer focus
“Pray for renewed understanding and openness in your marriage.”
