Facing Intimacy Honestly
Loving Your Spouse When You Feel Like Walking Away
Day 9 of 21 · Sunday 19 April 2026
Scripture reading
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”
1 Peter 3:7, KJV
Teaching lesson
Intimacy is more than physical; it is emotional closeness, safety, and connection.
A couple once said, “We are together, but we don’t feel close anymore.”
There was no major conflict. No obvious problem.Just distance.
Over time, life had become busy:
Work demands
Family responsibilities
Daily stress
And without realising it, they had stopped connecting.
Intimacy must be explored intentionally; it does not maintain itself.
Intimacy breaks down when:
Communication becomes surface-level
Time together becomes routine
Emotional needs go unexpressed
Consider this:
A husband thinks that providing financially is enough.A wife longs for conversation and emotional connection.
Both are giving but in different ways.
Intimacy grows when both partners feel:
Seen
Heard
Valued
Together
Your challenge
Have a conversation about what makes each of you feel most connected.
On your own
To reflect on
- Do I feel emotionally connected to my spouse? Why or why not?
- Have I clearly expressed my needs?
Prayer focus
“Pray for a deeper emotional connection and understanding.”
