Protecting Intimacy from Secret Struggles
Addictions
Day 10 of 21 · Monday 11 May 2026
Scripture reading
“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
Hebrews 13:4, KJV
Teaching lesson
He thought it was private.
She thought it was harmless.
But secret habits have a way of entering the marriage even when they are never spoken about.
Sexual integrity is not only about what happens physically. It is also about the heart, the eyes, the mind, and the choices we make when no one is watching.
In marriage, intimacy is sacred. It is meant to build closeness, safety, trust, and tenderness. But pornography, inappropriate conversations, online flirting, or hidden sexual behaviours can slowly damage what God intended to be protected.
This is not a topic to approach with shame or harshness, but rather with honesty.
Sometimes couples are hurting deeply in this area, but never say anything. One spouse feels rejected. The other feels trapped. Both feel alone.
Healing begins when darkness is brought into the light with humility, accountability, and prayer.
Your marriage is worth protecting.
Together
Your challenge
Gently discuss what boundaries are needed to protect intimacy and trust in your marriage.
On your own
To reflect on
- Are my private choices honouring my spouse and my covenant before God?
Prayer focus
“Lord, help us to honour You and each other in our thoughts, words, and actions. Bring healing where trust has been hurt and help us to protect the intimacy of our marriage. Amen.”
