Loving Your Spouse When You Feel Like Walking Away
Day 1 of 21 · Saturday 11 April 2026
Scripture reading
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. common…: or, moderate”
1 Corinthians 10:13, KJV
Teaching lesson
One of the most comforting truths about marriage is this: what you are experiencing is not unique.
Many couples silently believe that their struggles mean something is wrong with their marriage. But the reality is, all couples face challenges.
Some struggle with communication.Others with finances.Others with intimacy, stress, or feeling disconnected.
Imagine a couple sitting in the same living room, watching television, barely speaking. There is no shouting, no conflict, just silence. On the outside, everything looks fine. But inside, both feel distant.
This is more common than we think.
The problem is not that challenges exist. The problem is when we begin to feel alone in them.
Growth begins when we recognise:“We are not the only ones, and this can be worked on.”
Together
Your challenge
Have an honest conversation about one area where your marriage needs growth.
On your own
To reflect on
- What struggle have I been silently carrying?
- Have I assumed our situation is unique or hopeless?
Prayer focus
“Pray for openness and courage to face your reality together.”
