Covering Our Intimacy With Tenderness
Praying with Love
Day 12 of 21 · Wednesday 3 June 2026
Scripture reading
“Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.”
1 Corinthians 7:3, KJV
Teaching lesson
They shared a life.
They shared responsibilities.
They shared a home.
But intimacy had become complicated.
Sometimes it felt close.
Sometimes it felt distant.
Sometimes it felt tender.
Sometimes it felt pressured.
Sometimes there was desire.
Sometimes there was tiredness.
Sometimes there was silence around needs that were hard to explain.
Intimacy in marriage is not only physical.
It is emotional.
Spiritual.
Mental.
Relational.
It is the feeling of being known, wanted, respected, and safe.
That is why intimacy needs tenderness.
Tenderness asks,“How are you really feeling?”
Tenderness notices tiredness.
Tenderness respects timing.
Tenderness does not demand.
Tenderness does not shame.
Tenderness does not compare.
Tenderness remembers that the body and the heart are connected.
In marriage, intimacy can be affected by many things.
Stress.
Health.
Hormones.
Unresolved hurt.
Past experiences.
Busy schedules.
Emotional distance.
Words that wounded.
Life can place pressure on closeness.
But prayer invites God into even this sacred part of marriage.
Not with embarrassment.
Not with fear.
But with honesty.
God cares about the whole marriage.
The conversations.
The affection.
The tenderness.
The closeness.
The places where husband and wife need healing, patience, and understanding.
When intimacy is covered with prayer, it becomes less about performance and more about connection.
Less about pressure and more about love.
Less about duty and more about tenderness.
A marriage becomes stronger when both persons honour each other’s heart and body with care.
Because intimacy was never meant to be selfish.
It was meant to be a gift of love.
