Praying with Love
Day 21 of 21 · Friday 12 June 2026
Scripture reading
“[A Song of degrees for Solomon.] Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. for…: or, of Solomon that…: Heb. that are builders of it in it”
Psalms 127:1, KJV
“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”
Colossians 3:14, KJV
Teaching lesson
They had prayed for many things.
For patience.
For healing.
For peace.
For wisdom.
For protection.
For affection.
For strength.
For faithfulness.
And somewhere along the way, they began to realise something.
Marriage was never meant to be carried by love alone.
Not human love.
Not good intentions.
Not promises made with sincere hearts.
Marriage needs God.
Not only at the wedding.
Not only in crisis.
Not only when things are falling apart.
But every day.
In the quiet decisions.
In the difficult conversations.
In the ordinary routines.
In the private disappointments.
In the moments of tenderness.
In the seasons when love feels easy.
And in the seasons when love needs prayer to keep going.
A marriage covered by God is not a perfect marriage.
It still has misunderstandings.
Tired days.
Unfinished conversations.
Areas that need growth.
But it is a marriage that keeps turning back to Him.
Again and again.
When pride rises.
They return to God.
When hurt speaks loudly.
They return to God.
When decisions feel heavy.
They return to God.
When distance begins to grow.
They return to God.
Prayer becomes more than something they do.
It becomes part of how they love.
Part of how they forgive.
Part of how they listen.
Part of how they begin again.
A marriage covered by God is built slowly.
One prayer at a time.
One humble apology at a time.
One gentle word at a time.
One act of grace at a time.
One faithful choice at a time.
Not by strength alone.
Not by effort alone.
But by allowing God to be the foundation, the covering, and the guide.
When God covers a marriage, He gives wisdom for what is difficult.
Grace for what is unfinished.
Healing for what is wounded.
Strength for what feels weak.
And hope for what still needs to grow.
May your marriage be loved.
May it be covered.
Covered in prayer.
Covered in grace.
Covered in forgiveness.
Covered in peace.
Covered in the presence of God.
Because what is built with God can keep growing through every season.
Together
Your challenge
Pray together today and thank God for carrying your marriage. Then share one commitment you want to continue beyond these 21 days.
On your own
To reflect on
- How can I continue to cover my spouse and our marriage in prayer daily?
Prayer focus
“Lord, cover our marriage with Your presence. Be the foundation of our love, the guide of our decisions, the healer of our wounds, and the strength of our commitment. Help us to keep building our marriage with prayer, grace, forgiveness, and faithfulness. Amen.”
