Scripture reading

Proverbs 3:9-10, KJV
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33, KJV
Teaching lesson
One of the most powerful shifts Joshua and I experienced in our marriage was learning to see our finances as something to honour God with, not just something to manage.
This understanding began when God showed us that He could bless us even when we had very little.
In those moments, we realised that provision does not come from what we have; it comes from God.
That realisation changed how we approached our finances.
We became intentional about including God in our financial decisions. One of the key changes we made was committing to return a faithful tithe and offering, and to do it early, not as an afterthought, but as a priority.
This act was not just about giving; it was about trust.
As we continued to put God first in our finances, something else began to grow, peace.
Even in seasons when resources were limited, we had a sense of comfort knowing that God would provide for us. And that same confidence carried into seasons of increase.
We learned that when God is at the centre of our finances, fear is replaced with faith.
Honouring God with our finances does not mean we will never face challenges, but it does mean we are not facing them alone.
It strengthens our unity, shifts our perspective, and reminds us that everything we have ultimately belongs to Him.
Together
Your challenge
Have a conversation about how you can honour God more intentionally with your finances.
Identify one step you will take together this week.
On your own
To reflect on
- Do I see our finances as a means to honour God?
- Am I trusting God as my source, regardless of what we have?
- What step can I take to put God first in our finances?
Prayer focus
“Lord, help us to honour You with everything You have entrusted to us.Teach us to put You first in our finances and to trust You as our provider.Give us peace in every season and unity as we walk together in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
