When Affection Needs to Be Restored

Praying with Love

Day 10 of 21 · Monday 1 June 2026

Scripture reading

“My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.”

Song of Solomon 2:16, KJV

Teaching lesson

They still loved each other.

But affection had become less natural.

The hugs were quicker.

The kisses were fewer.

The touches became mostly practical.

Passing something.

Moving around each other.

Helping with a task.

But not always reaching for each other with tenderness.

Sometimes affection fades quietly.

Not because love is gone.

But because life becomes busy.

Stress becomes heavy.

Hurt remains unresolved.

Bodies get tired.

Minds get distracted.

And couples slowly stop reaching for each other.

Affection is not only about romance.

It is about reassurance.

It says,“I still see you.”

“I still choose you.”

“I am still here.”

“You are not alone beside me.”

In marriage, gentle affection can speak when words feel difficult.

A hand held.

A hug that lasts a little longer.

A touch on the shoulder.

Sitting close.

A kind look.

A simple kiss before leaving.

These small things matter.

They help the heart feel safe.

They remind the body that love is still present.

They help repair distance one tender moment at a time.

But affection cannot be forced.

It must be nurtured with care.

If hurt has made closeness difficult, bring that hurt to God.

If tiredness has made tenderness rare, ask God for renewed strength.

If distance has grown, begin gently.

One small act.

One sincere gesture.

One prayerful step toward each other.

Marriage needs affection that is thoughtful, respectful, and tender.

Not only on special occasions.

But in ordinary moments.

Because love should not only be known.

It should also be felt.

Together
