Building Trust Again
Loving Your Spouse When You Feel Like Walking Away
Day 12 of 21 · Wednesday 22 April 2026
Scripture reading
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5, KJV
Teaching lesson
Trust is the foundation of emotional safety in marriage.
Once it is shaken, even in small ways, it can affect everything.
A couple once shared that they no longer trusted each other, not because of a major betrayal, but because of repeated small disappointments:
Promises not kept
Conversations avoided
Feelings dismissed
Over time, those small moments created distance.
Trust is built and broken in both big and small ways.
Trust grows through:
Consistency
Honesty
Follow-through
Imagine this:
A husband says he will be home at a certain time but repeatedly arrives late without communication.A wife says she is “fine” but continues to carry unspoken hurt.
Neither situation seems major but both slowly weaken trust.
Rebuilding trust does not happen instantly. It happens through repeated, reliable actions over time.
Together
Your challenge
Share one area where trust needs to be strengthened and agree on one action to improve it.
On your own
To reflect on
- In what ways have I contributed to weakening trust?
- Am I consistent in my words and actions?
Prayer focus
“Pray for honesty, consistency, and restoration of trust.”
